Kenny Millar er journalist for Skottlands største avis, «The Scottish Sun».
I was in Drammen for a week covering Ronny Deila’s move to Celtic and I have to admit that I knew very little about Norwegian football, and even less about Stromsgodset. But it’s safe to safe I will be back to visit. I was blown away by the friendly welcome I received from locals, supporters and staff alike, especially given it was a sensitive time for anyone following Deila’s move. From Jostein Flo to David Nielsen, to every player I spoke to over the course of the week, all were very good with their time and interesting in what they had to say. The match-day against Haugesund, in particular, impressed ,me. The atmosphere generated behind the goal from the home support was terrific from start to finish and I noted that as soon as the team went a goal behind, the first voices I could hear were the locals encouraging Godset to get back in the game – which you obviously did. As for the team? Well, if I got to watch that brand of brave, relentless, risky attacking football every week I would be delighted. I will definitely keep an eye on the team’s results going forward and I wish you all the best for the rest of the season.
